Musician, singer, dancer, teacher, DJ to name just a few of Pete’s talents. Pete has been a musician for more years than he cares to remember and has taught music for the last 18. Starting at the tender age of 9 he always had a passion for music and by 11 was a member of a working band. He plays five instruments and studied music at university to degree level.
His dancing career began at university in the rather unlikely setting of a local opera company during their production of La Traviata (the one that makes Julia Roberts cry in Pretty Woman) when, as a member of the cast, he had to learn to waltz. This inspired his interest and upon finding Modern Jive he was hooked!
In 2004 he discovered WCS at a class in Camber and fascinated by the way the teacher and his demonstrator glided across the floor decided to incorporate this style into his own dancing. With his partner Eva, Pete has sought out classes and private lessons with Jordan Frisbee and Tatiana Mollman, Parker Dearborn and Jessica Cox, Heidi Groskreutz's, Robert Cordoba and Debora Szekely, Catriona Wiles and Paul Warden and of course Graham Fox.
Eva
Swimmer, gymnast, karate champion, dancer, teacher and a fantastic cook is there any surprise Pete thinks she’s fantastic?
Eva, the daughter of a Hungarian Ballroom and Latin champion has been dancing from an early age. Her father taught her to dance almost before she could walk and she hasn’t stopped swinging those hips since.
Eva is tireless in her desire to be the best at whatever she undertakes. She is a 2nd Dan black belt in Shotakan Karate and, as anyone who has tried this honourable sport will tell you that level of attainment requires an extremely high level of mind and body symbiosis. She brings all of this and her love of music to her west coast swing. In WCS Eva has that effortless “gliding across the floor” feel coupled with the playful naughtiness so typical of the best WCS dancers. She is an excellent communicator and fills her partner with self confidence whenever she takes to the floor.
Chelsea
UK West Coast Swing Classic Champion 2008
At the tender age of only eighteen Chelsea is already a very experienced dancer and demonstrator.
Like her mother Chelsea comes from a background of gymnastics, Karate and dance. From an early age she was immersed in music and dance and shares her mothers enthusiasm for this form of expression. She has successfully competed as part of a dance troupe at Jive competitions in London and Blackpool and continues to perform at a level that some of us can only dream of.
A rising star in the national and international WCS circuits and already noticed by amongst others Jordan Frisbee and Robert Cordoba, Chelsea has a bright future and is tipped by many to soon be a UK and possibly American champion.
Her poise, style, charm, good looks and above all cheeky attitude suite WCS perfectly and she is becoming as good a lead as she is a follower. Chelsea also effortlessly glides across the dance floor with a style and confidence that belies her youth, must be a case of good genes!
